The Garibaldi has become a much-loved hub of the local community – a thriving, not-for-profit pub run by volunteers, with all profits reinvested back into the venue and its activities.
While the pub is run as a community-owned, not-for-profit venture, we currently operate under a lease. Purchasing the building would allow us to secure the pub’s long-term future and protect it as a community asset.
We’ve now reached a pivotal moment in the pub’s story. The building is privately owned by someone who has always been incredibly supportive of the project, but who has now decided that the time is right to sell. He kindly offered us first refusal, which we accepted in 2024, and are now committed to.

We’ve explored many funding avenues, including grants, campaigns, and ethical lenders, and continue to pursue all realistic options. The timing of national events has unfortunately affected some of our plans, and the funding environment has proved particularly challenging. Nevertheless, we remain committed to finding a solution that ensures the pub stays in community hands.
The Garibaldi is financially stable, well supported, and has shown that it can succeed. Ownership of the building would open up further opportunities to grow and improve the space, helping us do even more for the people of Redhill.
We’re now asking for support – in whatever form it might take – from individuals, organisations, and anyone who shares our belief in what The Garibaldi stands for.
If you’d like to discuss how you might be able to help, please get in touch with us.
